It was revealed on Sunday by Mike Coppinger that an undisputed bout between Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk will not be staged in Saudi Arabia.

The complication that this now poses is the financial income that the two fighters will receive. They are expected to make in excess of $50 million (£41 million). They might have to sacrifice some of that income for the fight to take place in England, as Saudi Arabia investors were covering a lot of the cost involved.

Wembley can seat an enormous 90,000 crowd, helping Fury earn a cool $25 million (£20 million) in his last bout against Derek Chisora. Ticket prices can be expected to be more expensive than last time with an all-time record gate in the UK to be made.

If the fight even happens. Chances are if they couldn’t secure the Saudi Arabia deal by now, they won’t be able to secure a deal with all parties happy to sign for an undisputed battle on April 29. I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but as we all expected ‘The Gypsy King’ will return on April 29 against an opponent that isn’t the Ukrainian.

Talks can be revisited, Saudi Arabia can be explored again as an option but for now, this fight is dead in the water to this writer and many others. There is a long way to go and too many problems to solve for the two heavyweight champions to fight each other in April.

Better luck next time. Who do you think Fury fights on April 29?
