On November 22, the PPV price of Tyson Fury’s (32-0-1, 23 KOs) upcoming title defence against Derek Chisora (33-12, 23 KOs) was confirmed to be £26.95 on BT Sport box office in the UK.

The official announcement comes just over a week before the December 3 heavyweight clash.

In the build up so far, reception has not been great although ticket sales do not reflect this.

The fight will take place at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium which holds a capacity of 61,000.

When news broke of the PPV price, media outlets and individuals let their thoughts known on social media.

“A one month BT Sport pass costs £25 for all their sport (Champions League, Premiership, Rugby, UFC, WWE, some boxing).

One night of Fury vs Chisora on BT Sport is £26.95.

That is why boxing fans get pissed off.” Said one.

The fight will be the third instalment of the British heavyweight trilogy. Although it is not being marketed as that.

Tyson Fury last fought Chisora back in 2014 to win the British and European titles. Chisora was pulled out at the end of the tenth round by his corner after a one-way beat down delivered was by Fury.

Derek Chisora has seen some improvement over the last few years, having an ‘Indian summer’ in the latter stage of his 45-fight career.

However it has not convinced fans that ‘Del boy’ will be successful in his second World title attempt.

Criticism has been thrown at the event with Chisora himself saying at the press conference “We’re gonna have to call Eddie [Hearn] to help sell out this stadium.”

Over social media fans have made it known that they are not happy with the quality of the fight, which was announced only weeks after negotiations for a Fury-Joshua bout begun. The cost of the upcoming pay-per-view has added fuel to the fire of the general public’s dislike of this event.

“If you pay £27 for Fury vs Chisora III you’re telling promoters/ TV that you have zero standards, will pay for any old shite and/or are mentally stunted. Don’t do it folks.” Said another fan.

Despite the wide negative reception over social media, there is still a market out there which will purchase the fight.

BT Sport’s giant circulation including pubs throughout the UK showing the fight mean there will be a considerable number of patrons on fight night.

However, time will tell if the event turns a profit. Tyson Fury is reported to make upwards of £10 million (excluding PPV buys) for the fight against Chisora.
